Job Responsibilities:

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain employee safety and hazardous material documentation
  • Coordinate and conduct classroom training for Forklift
  • Coordinate and conduct safety and hazmat training as needed
  • Conducts scheduled training for all functions in the account for all shifts
  • Arranges and oversees weekly orientation session in basic safety training for new employees
  • Evaluates training effectiveness to ensure employees meet strategic goals and achieve results
  • Makes recommendations to the managers for go or no go into the account
  • Sets up and maintains Safety Sam folders
  • Creates monthly safety topics to be administered by Operations
  • Performs safety drills
  • Organizes and oversees annual safety week
  • Organizes and oversees Top Gun set up and training
  • Maintains, renews, and tracks forklift training certification status for personnel
  • Logs trouble tickets with the Corporate IT department and follow ups to ensure quick resolution
  • Develop and communicate safety and hazmat topics as needed
  • Assist the Safety Committee and Master Trainer with meetings and follow-up as needed
  • Conduct post-accident investigation and communicate results as needed
  • Document and communicate property damage reports
  • Conduct safety inspections
  • Track injuries, Forklift incidents, and Near Misses
  • Maintain Trainer status for Dangerous Goods and Lithium Battery as needed
  • Maintain Trainer status for Forklift Part A (theory), Part B (practical), and BST (Basic Safety Training)
  • Conduct internal Corporate Compliance Audits in partnership with field and Corporate EHS staff
  • Support back office check in/out trailers and affix labels/plaques
  • Dock Controller duties as required
  • Other duties as required and assigned

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

  • College Diploma in H&S or equivalency 
  • WSIB and Hazmat training
  • 2 to 4 years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with warehouse equipment
  • PC literate to include proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to interpret and carry out instructions
  • Ability to organize safety audits
  • Ability to organize and conduct training classes for audiences at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to develop and proof training materials
  • Proven presentation and facilitation skills
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence
