Job Description
Summary:
The Senior Transportation Operations Manager is responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining the activities of the Transportation Department for assigned facilities. The position provides leadership to the transportation team and is the liaison between the Company and its customers.
Job Duties: -
· Develops, coordinates and manages operational and administrative activities for Transportation Department
· Develops strategic plan for direction of the assigned division for the future
· Develops policies, programs, and procedures for efficient operation of transportation system and terminal operations
· Directs compilations and issuance of timetables and statistical surveys
· Conducts surveys to evaluate performance of operations and recommends changes
· Reviews and analyzes reports such as revenue, performance records, and seat occupancy patterns to secure information for recommended changes
· Monitors accounts receivable and delinquent accounts to minimize bad debt write-offs and improve collections
· Organizes and participates in meetings with staff members to determine objectives
· Manages transportation personnel including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions and staffing
· Recommends appropriate solutions to problems
· Assists sales with rate quotations and transportation contracts as needed
· Ensures all equipment is licensed, permitted and the proper documentation is available upon request by the Department of Transportation
· Investigates all truck related accidents/incidents to ensure timely processing of the claim
· Other duties as required and assigned
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree from a 4 year college or university
· Minimum 6 to 8 years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and training
· Must be PC literate and proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
· Ability to read and write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
· Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and co-workers
· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
· Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee is regularly exposed to ambient lighting and temperate climate conditions.
