Senior Transportation Analyst (Operations)
The Senior Transportation Analyst is responsible for supporting the Transportation Operations department by providing meaningful internal and external business analytics, including profitability analysis, report development and maintenance, freight optimization studies and general analytical problem solving with a focus on continuous improvement, freight cost and service optimization.

Your role on the team:
- Administers Request for Quotes (RFQs) including generating, distributing, tracking and analyzing carrier proposals and pricing for client bids
- Pulls data history from multiple systems for analysis and manipulation
- Models data to facilitate fact based decisions
- Monitor and report carrier and service change impacts to our customers costs and our overall account yield
- Analyzes data relating to carrier performance and prepares metrics used to maintain carrier scorecards
- Analyzes shipping characteristics along with rates for cost savings opportunities and/or increase in expenses
- Supports managers in compiling analytics and presentations for periodic business reviews with customers
- Summarizes data by explaining cause and effect business trends and anomalies along with conclusions
- Identifies savings and profitability improvement opportunities by analyzing client shipping patterns and carrier rate trends
- Organizes and plans tasks allowing time to ensure completion of all projects
- Leads the development, setup, and maintenance of carrier KPI’s
- Responsible for overseeing standard schedule to produce internal metrics and drive accountability from other analysts to meet metric deliverables
- Assumes responsibility for data collection, data cleansing, and scope documentation for more complex, carrier analysis involving multiple freight modes
- Maintains and develops models for rate shopping to drive carrier and service decisions
- Collaborates with engineering to build applications that utilize the company’s optimization and business intelligence tools
- Performs account benchmarking against industry standards and generates non-standard KPI’s relevant to carrier
- Services as a source of guidance and knowledge to transportation analysts
- Performs ad-hoc analysis and reporting as needed
What you need: (requirements)
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience with analysis and reporting; or an equivalent combination of both education and training
- Experience with Transportation Management Systems, preferably MercuryGate
- Knowledge of transportation industry standard KPI’s for cost and service
- Knowledge of business intelligence software tools to gather and display relevant information through writing and optimizing SQL statements
- PC literacy to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook
