Your role on the team:

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Director of Less Than Container Load (LCL) to lead the growth and development of our LCL services across the Americas region. This is a strategic role with significant responsibility for expanding our LCL footprint, driving revenue growth, and establishing a robust operational framework.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong commercial mindset, a proven track record in LCL sales and operations, and the ability to develop and execute strategic initiatives. This role will initially focus on North America, with subsequent expansion into key Latin American markets

  • LCL Growth Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive LCL growth strategy for the Americas, encompassing sales, operations, pricing, and marketing initiatives.
  • Market Development: Identify and penetrate new markets, with an initial focus on North America, followed by expansion into Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, and Canada.
  • New Business Development: Secure new LCL business by proactively targeting and closing large accounts.
  • Consolidation Hubs: Establish strategically located consolidation gateways in the USA to optimize LCL operations and service offerings.
  • Pricing Strategy: Develop and implement competitive pricing guidelines for LCL services across the Americas.
  • Sales Enablement: Provide weekly visibility to our stations and business development teams on consol utilization. This includes clear reporting on available capacity per consol, enabling them to prioritize sales efforts and effectively fill remaining space.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure efficient and cost-effective LCL operations, including vendor management, documentation, and customer service.
  • Procurement: Lead procurement efforts with co-load partners, securing competitive rates and service agreements for first and final mile transportation.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor LCL performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Industry Expertise: Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices in LCL shipping.

What you need: (requirements)

  • Proven LCL Expertise: Minimum of 10 years of experience in LCL sales, operations, and management, with a demonstrated track record of success.
  • North America Market Expertise: A proven expert in the North American LCL market with at least 5 years of active experience working in the US market.
  • Strong Commercial Acumen: A deep understanding of LCL pricing, market dynamics, and competitive landscape.
  • Business Development Skills: Proven ability to identify, develop, and close new business opportunities.
  • Operational Excellence: Experience in managing LCL operations, including consolidation, documentation, and customer service.
  • Procurement Experience: Demonstrated experience in negotiating and managing contracts with transportation providers.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute strategic plans to achieve business objectives.
  • Leadership and Communication: Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of the North American and Latin American LCL markets.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in English is required. Spanish and/or Portuguese language skills are highly desirable.
