Account Representative - Ocean Import

Your role on the team:
- Serves as the customer service liaison between GEODIS and the customer.
- Processes all documents and information requests received from GEODIS.
- Enters notes, information requests and document requests as needed.
- Ensures all issues on the “Missing Document Report” are addressed by the end of the day.
- Sends information/document requests to company’s employees, suppliers, service providers or overseas production offices as needed.
- Communicates with specified offices, departments, and teams on all issues affecting clearance.
- Files document requests, correspondence, and documents in a file folder identified by the entry number.
- Monitors CFS’ non-clearance reports to ensure all pending shipments are accounted for, appropriate action has been taken and the details are captured on the “Missing Document Report.”
- Updates and distributes an exam/detention report daily.
- Coordinates special entry needs when required.
- Sends an ACH recap to MAST Finance monthly.
- Provides monthly reports including but not limited to exams, manifest holds, rejects, EDI rejects/issues and personnel updates in addition to historical stats comparing current period information to last month and/or last year.
- Addresses EDI error messages and issues
- Ensures operational procedures are in line with company needs.
What you need:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in importation of goods, or an equivalent combination of both education and experience
- Experience in freight forwarding and banking.
- Knowledge of US Customs and Government Agency entry and clearance requirements
- Knowledge of the movement of freight via air, ocean, or truck
- PC proficiency to include Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook
Bonus if you have:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manual.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
